Fine Art by Florence S. Craig
Hello, and welcome to my artistic world! I am a young watercolor artist, illustrator, calligrapher, and Minnesota Master Gardener with a passion for all things light and life.
My work weaves together images and symbols from the natural world in a poetic exploration of faith, hope, and the intricacies of the human heart.

I hope to speak the Truth with my artwork—both the truth about the real pain, darkness, and sorrow in the world, and the Truth about the redeeming love of a God who brings beauty from ashes and turns darkness into light.

HISTORICAL INSPIRATION
I am deeply passionate about the history of art, and I draw from my dual degrees in Studio Art and Art History to infuse my work with echoes of different artistic eras, creating a symphony of the old and the new. Here are a few of the historical traditions that most directly influence my work:

Education
2020-2023
Incomplete MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (LPC track)
Regent University
In this program, I studied Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus on Art Therapy and Expressive Arts Therapies. In 2023, I made the painful decision to withdraw from the program with one course left due to worsening chronic health challenges. I continue to cherish all that I learned in this program, and the lessons that I learned continue to shape my artwork and my daily life.
2016-2020
BA in Studio Art; BA in Art History
Carleton College
At Carleton, I had the opportunity to take a wide variety of science and writing courses in addition to my to dual degrees of art and art history. The well-rounded education gave me an opportunity to broaden my visual vocabulary and grow my passion for both scientific illustration and poetry. I also met my precious husband, James, at Carleton!
